NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: Origin Investments launches 120-unit BTR expansion. Origin Investments, in partnership with Flywheel Investments, will break ground in January on the second phase of Trailside NoDa, a 120-unit BTR townhome community in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood. The project is slated for delivery in 2027. Managing Director Dave Welk said the expansion marks Origin’s first large-scale common-equity BTR project in Charlotte, adding to the firm’s seven BTR projects nationally.

DEVELOPMENT: Dinerstein, Maymont to deliver 250 BTR homes in Pasco County. Dinerstein and Maymont Homes are moving forward with plans to build 250 single-family BTR homes in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. The community will rise on a 28.5-acre site, acquired earlier this year for $12.5 million by Maymont, which also secured financing for the project in July. Pre-leasing is expected to launch in late spring 2026, with initial move-ins slated for the fourth quarter of 2026.

DEVELOPMENT: Crescent Communities debuts 1,200-acre MPC. Crescent Communities has officially opened The River District, a 1,200-acre master-planned community along the Catawba River in Charlotte, North Carolina. The River District is designed to feature up to 2,300 single-family homes and 2,350 apartments. Crescent also closed on 140 single-family home sites in the Basswood neighborhood, with construction expected to begin later this year.

FINANCING: Lynd Development secures $64 million refi for Chicago suburb BTR community. Lynd Development Group, a division of The Lynd Group, has closed on a $64 million loan from Starwood Capital to refinance Home at Ashcroft, a 178-unit luxury BTR community in Oswego, Illinois. The new loan replaces a $66 million construction loan from Delaware Life and Steeprock Capital.
