NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: Alpine Start Development plans 1,000-unit master-planned rental community. Alpine Start Development plans to build a large master-planned rental community in Waxahachie that will include about 915 multifamily units, 150 BTR single-family homes. The Dallas-based developer, which focuses on suburban multifamily construction, expects the project to be completed by October 2028.

DEVELOPMENT: Southern Impression completes phase one of 213-unit BTR. Southern Impression Homes has completed phase one of a 213-unit BTR townhome community in Arlington, Texas, marking a key step in the company’s national expansion. Chris Funk, president and CEO of Southern Impression Homes, said the project showcases the firm’s fully integrated model across product design, land development, general contracting, and structured financing, while also highlighting its ability to provide debt and equity solutions that support investor returns.

DEVELOPMENT: 29th Street Living opens 201-unit BTR in Arizona. A new 201-unit BTR community has officially opened in Apache Junction, with city officials and developers holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project at Broadway Avenue and Tomahawk Road. Developed by 29th Street Living, the community is designed to offer residents the privacy of a single-family home with the flexibility of renting. Apache Junction Mayor Chip Wilson said the project could serve as a catalyst for growth along the Old West Highway corridor, while Beric Wessley, director of lease-up operations, said strong leasing activity has confirmed demand for upscale rental housing in the market.

DEVELOPMENT: NexMetro expands access to BTR investment products. NexMetro Communities has expanded access to its BTR investment products across major private wealth platforms, broadening distribution beyond its traditional direct sponsor relationships. Ryan Krafczik, VP of equity investments at NexMetro, said the move creates new capital-formation channels on platforms advisors already trust while preserving the company’s strategy and performance standards. NexMetro’s Direct Access Fund 2026, an equity development fund focused on Avilla BTR projects in high-growth U.S. markets, is now available through iCapital.
